Limerick Lavender Clinic wins HSE Excellence Award

Six women stand on a stage with a 'Health Service Excellence Awards' stand-up poster behind them, one of them holds a trophy.

The Lavender Clinic, at University Maternity Hospital Limerick, was among the recent recipients of a HSE Excellence Award.  The clinic is a screening, assessment and early intervention service for women at risk of experiencing post-traumatic stress symptoms related to birth.  It is a multidisciplinary team (MDT), collaborative clinic, facilitated by an advanced midwife practitioner (AMP), a consultant psychiatrist or registrar in psychiatry, an obstetric consultant and clinical specialist physiotherapy.  The clinic is located off-site in a Primary Care Centre.

Those involved in the clinic were present at the recent HSE Excellence Awards ceremony in Dublin, when the HSE celebrated staff innovation. The awards are an opportunity to showcase and celebrate examples of the great work that happens every day across the health service. They aim to encourage and inspire health service staff to develop and improve care and services for patients.

Commending the award winners and nominees, Bernard Gloster, HSE CEO, said that “each project clearly reflects our core values of care, compassion, trust and learning."

"Well done and thank you to all the winners and praise too, to all those shortlisted. It is all their work that helps pave the way to a brighter future for Ireland’s health service.”

Highlighting the positive outcomes, Anne Marie Hoey, HSE National Director, HR, noted that “as well as providing an opportunity to celebrate the great work of staff happening every day, the Excellence Awards are an important channel to share learnings with our colleagues across the health service.”

Anne Marie added that “through this pooling of knowledge and expertise, the projects inspire a sense of staff pride, teamwork and collaboration that help to shape the positive culture of our organisation. This will have a positive impact on the overall environment for our staff whilst improving outcomes for the people who rely on our care and support.”
