National SpR SR Academic Fellowship Programme 2014

The National SpR/SR Academic Fellowship Programme (NSAFP) is an integrated clinical and research training programme where, following successful completion of the programme, the trainee will be awarded with a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Training (CCST) and a PhD. The scheme is targeted at medical trainees who wish ultimately to specialise in research or make a career in academic medicine. The scheme is open to medical trainees in higher specialist traning who, as at July 14th 2014, will have a minimum of two years further clinical training to be completed before eligibility for CCST, including new entrants to higher specialist training from July 2014.

The fellowships will be jointly funded by the HSE and Health Research Board (HRB). It is envisaged that two fellowships will be awarded in this round.
