The symbol of the Tree of Life, displaying the colours used for each group profiled in the Guide, was inspired by a similar emblem used at the Children's University Hospital, Temple Street (see Figure 3). The Tree of Life has been used symbolically for eons of time in fields including mythology, philosophy, religion/ spirituality and science; the Tree also has symbolic meaning for a number of the groups profiled in the Guide.
