Rossbarna designated centre provides full-time residential care for nine residents who are over the age of eighteen years. The centre is comprised of two detached residential houses that are located a short distance from each other. Both locations are within driving distance of a large town and have many local amenities that residents can access. All residents have their own bedroom, with each bedroom decorated to the individual preference of the resident. The centre is staffed with a skill mix comprised of nursing and healthcare assistant staff.
The Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA) carried out an announced inspection at Rossbarna designated centre on the 1st February 2024 to inform the centre’s registration renewal application. The report was published on the HIQA website on May 15th 2024.
The HIQA inspector had the opportunity to meet with six of the residents of Rossbarna on the day of inspection and noted that residents in the centre were in receipt of a good quality service which promoted residents rights and choices. The inspector remarked that throughout the day there was a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere in the centre.
Seventeen regulations were assessed at inspection with sixteen regulations deemed to be fully compliant and one regulation receiving a substantially compliant judgement. The following actions have been undertaken to address the substantially compliant judgment:
- All residents now have a completed financial competency assessment within their personal documentation. Residents are also supported in the area of finance management with easy read documentation on finances.
- Annual financial statements will be retained on site and made available for each individual resident within the centre.
HSE Community Healthcare Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo Disability Services will continue to work to ensure that high quality services are delivered and maintained within Rossbarna designated centre.
