Dunroamin is a HSE run designated centre managed by Community Healthcare Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo (CH CDLMS) Disability Services. The centre provides 24 hour residential care to meet the care needs of four adult residents with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. Dunroamin is a large bungalow which is situated in a rural setting. All residents of Dunroamin have their own bedrooms two of which have en-suite facilities. Dunroamin has a living room, sun room, kitchen/dining area and laundry facilities. Office space is located within the centre. Residents can also enjoy the garden and outdoor sitting area. This centre has a skill mix of nursing and care staff under the supervision and support of the Clinical Nurse Manager II/Person in Charge and a Clinical Nurse Manager I. A 24 hour on-call nursing service is also provided.
The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) carried out an announced inspection of Dunroamin on the 13 May 2024 to inform a registration renewal application. The report was published on the HIQA website on September 27 2024.
On the day of inspection the HQA inspector had discussions with the residents and staff of Dunroamin and reviewed documentation. The inspector noted that Dunroamin was a nice place for residents to reside and remarked that there was an active homely welcoming atmosphere within the centre. Residents were noted to enjoy a good quality of life and had many opportunities for social engagement and meaningful activities.
On the day of the HIQA inspection nineteen regulations were inspected. Eighteen regulations were deemed fully compliant, and one regulation received a substantially compliant judgement.
The following action has been undertaken to address the substantially compliant judgement:
- The Registered Provider (HSE CH CDLMS Disability Services) now has a process in place to ensure consultation is carried out with residents, family representatives and staff when completing the centre’s annual review. All actions identified from the annual review are included on the center’s Quality Improvement Plan.
HSE CH CDLMS Disability Services will continue to work to ensure that a high quality of service is maintained within the Dunroamin designated centre.
