Re HIQA Inspection - Ceol na Mara - OSV 000-5867

Ceol na Mara is a full time residential centre run by the Health Service Executive (HSE) Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo (CH CDLMS) Disability Services. The centre is home to four adult residents with an intellectual disability. The centre is located in a rural location close to a village in Co. Sligo.  The centre is comprised of a single storey detached house with a kitchen/living area, two sitting rooms, a large bathroom and a utility room.  Each resident has their own bedroom, two of which are en-suite.  Large gardens surround the house for residents to enjoy.  Residents are supported by a skill mix of nursing and health care assistants on a 24/7 basis.

An announced inspection was undertaken by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) at the centre on the 27 June 2024 to inform a registration renewal application. The report was published on the HIQA website on September 27 2024.

Overall, this inspection found that residents at Ceol na Mara live in a comfortable, warm and welcoming home that meets their assessed needs.  The HIQA inspector found that the residents have a range of support needs and a person centred service where choices and rights are respected is provided at Ceol na Mara. Residents told the HIQA inspector that they are happy living in the centre, that they could make choices about their lives and that they are supported to spend time with their families and in their communities.

Sixteen regulations were inspected by HIQA on the day of inspection and all regulations were deemed to be fully compliant.

HSE CH CDLMS Disability Services will continue to work to ensure high quality services are provided ongoing to all residents of Ceol na Mara.
