This HSE designated centre is managed by Disability Services in Community Healthcare Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo.
The centre is comprised of two separate residential community facilities and provides residential care and support to thirteen adults with disabilities.
Both houses are in Co. Monaghan and are in close proximity to local towns where residents have access to a range of community based facilities such as dance halls, shopping centres, clubs, parks, hotels and pubs. The centre also provides transport for residents which they can avail of as required. Each house is staffed on a 24/7 basis by a full-time Person in Charge, Staff Nurses, Care Assistants and Social Care Workers. A person-centred approach is used to provide care and support to residents and positively encourages residents to make their own individual choices and decisions.
Fernview Community House (with Cluain Mhuire as a unit under this centre) was inspected by the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA) on April 3rd 2024 and the report was published on the HIQA website on June 19th 2024.
On the day of inspection the HIQA inspector found that the individual choices and preferences of the residents were being promoted and the inspector observed that residents appeared happy and content in their homes. The inspector also noted that residents were engaged in social, recreational and learning activities of their choice, interest and preference.
At inspection fifteen regulations were inspected with fourteen receiving a fully compliant judgement and one deemed to be substantially compliant.
The HSE has taken the following action to ensure full regulatory compliance as follows:
- All risk assessments have been reviewed to ensure all relevant controls are included in the management of the risks.
The HSE will continue to work to ensure that a high quality of service is maintained within the Fernview and Cluain Mhuire designated centre
