Re: HIQA inspection Sea Road Services OSV-0002624

Sea Road Services is a designated centre providing a residential service and is managed by the Health Service Executive. The centre provides full-time residential accommodation to adults with disabilities. Sea Road Services is comprised of two individual houses located in a housing estate on the outskirts of a large town. Both houses, which form part of the centre, are two storey detached houses, and are in close proximity to each other. Residents have their own bedrooms which are personalised to their individual tastes. The centre has its own transport and public transport services are also available nearby. The staffing skill-mix at the centre is comprised of nursing and social care staff.

Sea Road Services was inspected by the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA) on Tuesday 20th February 2024 and the report was published on the HIQA website on May 15th 2024.

On the day of inspection the HIQA inspectors noted the atmosphere at the centre to be happy and homely and interactions between the residents and staff were observed to be person-centered, kind, caring and respectful. One resident showed the inspectors a word game that they were completing on their tablet. They spoke highly of their home. They said that it was warm and comfortable and that the food was nice. The inspectors spoke with a number of residents and with the Person in Charge about contact with the residents’ families and noted in their report that “it was clear that these relationships were supported through home visits, visits to the designated centre and telephone calls.”

Seventeen regulations were inspected on the day of inspection and all were deemed to be fully complaint.

HSE Community Healthcare Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo Disability Services will continue to work to ensure that a high quality of service is maintained within the Sea Road Services designated centre.
