North West Hospice launch new Walk and Talk Bereavement Group

North West Hospice has launched a new initiative facilitated by the Social Work Team, who provide bereavement support to those who have experienced the death of a loved one under the Hospice and Palliative Care services. The Walk and Talk Bereavement Group aims to provide a supportive space to connect with others who have experienced loss, offering the comfort of shared understanding in a peaceful and natural setting.

The walk is guided by the social work team, offering a combination of conversation and moments for quiet reflection.  The group meets on the third Wednesday of every month at Doorly Park at 11am and the walk lasts approximately 40 minutes.  North West Hospice is requesting people to register their interest by visiting the North West Hospice Charity website or by contacting the Social Work Dept. on 071 9143317. Refreshments are provided in a local café after the walk.

Michelle O’Reilly is a Senior Medical Social Worker at North West Hospice, “We, at North West Hospice are delighted to launch this new initiative.  As Social Workers who support those who are bereaved, we understand the value of sharing your experience of grief with others.  The aim of the Walk and Talk Group is to enable those bereaved to meet with others who have a shared experience of grief whilst also connecting with nature.”

The Social Work Department would like to acknowledge the support received from North West Hospice Charity in this initiative.
