Mayoral reception for South Tipperary Involvement Centre

The HSE/South East Community Healthcare were delighted that the volunteers of its South Tipperary Involvement Centre were celebrated by way of a Mayor Reception which they attended in Clonmel recently.

The occasion, which took place in the Town Hall/Tipperary County Council office in Clonmel, was hosted by the outgoing Mayor of the Clonmel Borough District Cllr. Richie Molloy.

The Involvement Centre is a peer-led centre run by people with a lived experience of mental health challenges and addictions. Social activities are organised in the centre and it caters to mental health service users, their families and friends.

Its Co-ordinator David Dwyer, on behalf of the South Tipperary Involvement Centre, was presented with a framed certificate by the Mayor to mark the event and in appreciation of the supports provided by the service based in the Place4U premises in Clonmel’s Gladstone St. It was then followed by Mayor Molloy presenting each volunteer with a certificate of appreciation to celebrate the good work being carried out.

The HSE’s mental health services were represented at the occasion by Eileen Nagle (Deputy Service Manager, South Tipperary Mental Health Services) and Clare Fitzpatrick (Recovery Co-ordinator, HSE/South East Community Healthcare Mental Health Services).

Speaking at the Reception, Clare Fitzpatrick said:

“We are delighted with this recognition afforded to us by Mayor Molly on behalf of the local authority in the area. Thank you to the Mayor for the warm welcome given to everyone involved.”

“The HSE’s Involvement Centres are peer led recovery focused drop in spaces, run by volunteers, supported by our mental health services team and offer a warm welcoming place in which mental health challenges are understood to be part of life and are accepted in a non-judgemental way. There are involvement Centres in Carlow, Clonmel and Kilkenny.”

“South Tipperary Involvement Centre is open to everyone Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 1pm in Place4U, Gladstone St., Clonmel (E91 HK51).”
