HSE Mental Health Services Sligo Leitrim has won the Mental Health Initiative of the Year at the Irish Healthcare Awards 2024.
The initiative was the development of a Person Centred Mental Health Crisis Resolution Team.
The inspirational winners of the Irish Healthcare Awards were celebrated on Wednesday 4th of December, at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, Dublin.
The Irish Healthcare Awards brought together over 500 medical professionals to recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations striving to make the healthcare sector an exemplary place to work. The Irish Healthcare Awards now in their 23rd year, reward excellence and professionalism in the healthcare sector, recognising innovation, achievement, projects, meetings and technology that improves the patient's journey.
The panel of more than 25 judges including some of the country’s most respected physicians, educators, patient advocates, medical journalists, and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry reviewed the entries. HSE Mental Health Services Sligo Leitrim was honoured for Developing a Person Centred Mental Health Crisis Resolution Team.
The judges remarked that it was an “excellent initiative to address crisis resolution with evidence of a reduction in admissions. It also provides a better user experience outside of emergency care pathways and is in line with Sláintecare policy regarding care in the community."
Dr Elizabeth Gethins, Consultant Psychiatrist, Crisis Resolution Team, HSE Sligo Leitrim Mental Health Services said “The team was thrilled to be honoured with this award. A lot of hard work went into establishing the crisis resolution team and this win validates all that effort. We continue to be privileged to work with people when they are at their most vulnerable, that’s what this service is ultimately all about.”
