Mountain View is a centre managed by the Health Service Executive and provides residential care for four female residents with disabilities. The centre comprises of a bungalow located in a village in Co. Sligo, a short drive away from a large town with shops, cafes and other amenities. All residents of Mountain View designated centre have individual bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities. The centre also has an open plan living, kitchen and dining area and a separate sitting room. There are gardens to the front and rear of the centre. Mountain View is a nurse-led service, with three staff on duty during day time hours and two staff on duty during night time hours.
The Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA) undertook an announced inspection of Mountain View designated centre on September 5th 2024 to inform a registration renewal application. The report was published on the HIQA website on December 18th 2024.
Overall the HIQA inspector found that Mountain View centre provides a good quality service. It was noted that residents’ needs are assessed and appropriate supports in place to meet their needs. The inspector also found that residents’ safety is promoted through good safeguarding practices and risk management systems. In addition the HIQA inspector found staff to be knowledgeable about supporting residents, and that governance and oversight arrangements in place ensure that the service is well monitored and any issues addressed in a timely manner.
The inspector met with all four residents of Mountain View during the inspection. Residents engaged with the inspector using multiple methods of communication, for example, spoken words, gestures, facial expression.
During inspection twenty one regulations were assessed, all of which received a fully compliant judgment from HIQA.
HSE Disability Services in Community Services Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo will continue to work to ensure that robust governance, quality and safety arrangements are in place within the Mountain View centre to ensure high quality services are provided ongoing to residents.
