Millbrook designated centre is a HSE centre which provides twenty four residential care and support to seven adults with an intellectual disability. The centre is under the management of Community Healthcare Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo Disability Services. Millbrook centre is an accessible bungalow on the outskirts of Monaghan town. This centre comprises of a sitting room, a relaxation room, a visitor’s room and a large fully equipped kitchen/dining room and utility room. The house has two large communal bathrooms and seven bedrooms, two of which are ensuite. At the rear of the building there is a semi independent living unit where one resident resides. There are large garden areas to the rear of the premises and parking facilities at the front of the building. The centre has its own transport to support residents to avail of community based activities.
Millbrook House was inspected by the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA) on the 7 May 2024 and the report was published on the HIQA website on August 20 2024.
The HIQA inspector found that residents of Millbrook were happy and content in their home. Staff were observed to be kind and person centred in their interactions with residents.
Seventeen regulations were inspected during the inspection with sixteen receiving a fully compliant judgement and one regulation being deemed to be substantially compliant.
The HSE has taken the following action to ensure full regulatory compliance as follows:
- A review of the current staffing arrangement for Millbrook centre has been undertaken. Ongoing review will continue to ensure the level of staffing is adequate to meet the changing needs of residents.
HSE Disability Services in Community Healthcare Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo will continue to work to ensure that robust governance, quality and safety arrangements are in place within the Millbrook Designated Centre to ensure high quality services are provided ongoing to all residents.
