Caredoc provides urgent out-of-hours GP care for patients of participating GP’s in Sligo, North Leitrim and West Cavan.
Caredoc is an appointment-based service and can be contacted for urgent medical needs by calling 0818 365399.
The Caredoc service is a partnership between GP members of Caredoc and the HSE. The service is designed to provide urgent GP care to patients when GP surgeries are closed and is not a substitute for the National Ambulance Service who deal with medical emergencies.

In addition to Caredoc’s normal opening hours, Christmas and New Year opening hours are from
- 6pm Monday 23rd December to 9am Friday 27th December 2024
- 1pm Tuesday 31st December to 9am Thursday 2nd January 2025
We anticipate that the Christmas season will be very busy with high demand on our service, patients may experience longer waiting times especially around peak times.
Some useful preparations can be made in advance such as:
- Have your regular prescriptions arranged with your GP surgery in advance of Christmas
- Check you are well stocked up with over the counter medications to treat minor ailments e.g. paracetamol, ibuprofen, dioralyte sachets etc
- Check the HSE website www.undertheweather.ie for useful advice on common illnesses like colds, coughs, flu, earache and sore throats
- If you are caring for someone who is terminally ill, liaise with Palliative Care team or GP regarding medications that may be required
