The HSE National Infectious Diseases Isolation Facility on St. Ita’s Campus in Portrane, Co. Dublin is a 43 bed, 24 hour facility for self-caring individuals with infectious diseases who are aged 18 years and older and who are unable to isolate in their own environment. Where family circumstances require the isolation of babies and children, this can also be accommodated once the minors are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Individuals who are not self-caring, but who can be escorted by designated carers, may also be accomodated.
The Facility is zoned and as such can concurrently house residents with different infectious diseases and differing isolation periods, without risk of cross-contamination.
Nursing and Healthcare Assistant Staff are available on a 24-hour basis. Residents also have access to an on-site GP service Monday to Friday, and an on-call GP service during weekends and out-of-hours. The Clinical Staff collaborate with the HSE Public Health Departments, HSE Infection Prevention and Control and the referring Hospitals or General Practitioners, as appropriate.
The Facility is serviced by St. Ita’s award-winning Catering Department which is fully compliant with Regulation (EC) No. 852/ 2004 regarding food hygiene. Residents receive three meals a day and all fruit, vegetables, meat and fish are fresh and prepared daily.
Each zone in the facility boasts a welfare area where residents can make their own tea or coffee and watch TV. Free Wi-Fi is also available. Residents have access to shared shower and toilet facilities within the zone to which they are assigned. Clean laundry and towels are provided as required. All resident areas are cleaned daily.
