Goals of The Alliance
- To establish and grow a forum for the development of community-led support which includes opportunities for information and education, collaboration and networking among its members.
- To advocate for and support the development of integrated pathways between the cancer centres, systemic anti-cancer treatment hospitals (acute hospitals), community cancer support services and primary care.
Mission of The Alliance
To provide information, support and capacity-building opportunities to community-based cancer support providers which will lead to cancer support centres and services becoming a fully integrated partner in the provision of community psychosocial support for cancer patients, their carers and families.
Vision of The Alliance
An Ireland where everyone affected by cancer is able to access evidence-based psychosocial and rehabilitation supports delivered by appropriately trained practitioners in a location that is convenient to them.
Values of The Alliance
- We are inclusive. We commit to reaching and representing everyone affected by cancer in Ireland, including family members and carers.
- We are collaborative. We commit to engaging in and promoting partnerships that will work to achieve The Alliance Project vision and goals.
- We are evidence-based. We commit to using evidence based approaches to help us achieve and sustain quality cancer survivorship supports.
- We are progressive. We commit to supporting our members to develop and grow their organisations to be the best they can be.
Why Community Cancer Support Centres and Services should join The Alliance
Organisations should join The Alliance to:
- Contribute to the goals of the National Cancer Strategy and thus contribute to the common good

- Raise the profile of The Alliance nationally, regionally and locally

- Inclusion in NCCP Directory of Community Cancer Support Centres and Services
- Access to advice and expertise
- Free training
- Networking events
- Opportunities to participate in collaborative projects
- Once-off grant opportunities for capacity-building initiatives
- Be eligible for nomination for seat on The Alliance Steering Group
- A vote in the selection process for steering group membership

Organisations who sign the Charter and have achieved compliance with the Best Practice Guidance through self-assessment and peer review process.

Membership Requirements for Community-led Cancer Support Centres and Services
- Read and understand the Best Practice Guidance for Community Cancer Support Centres and Services
- Be registered with the Charities Regulator Ireland and in compliance with the Charities Acts
- Maintain all policies relevant to the organisation’s services
- Confirm that staff and/or volunteers are appropriately qualified and trained
- Agree to provide a monthly update on activity to the NCCP
- Attend a minimum of two NCCP Alliance networking events each year
- Inform the NCCP of any organisational changes
