Linn Dara Approved Centre is a regional and national referral centre for children and young people experiencing a severe or complex Eating Disorder. Eating Disorders are serious mental disorders with high levels of physical and psychological comorbidity, disability and mortality.
We have 8 dedicated Specialist Eating Disorder beds which offer level 4 care and treatment for children and young people with severe and complex Eating Disorders.
Level 4 is described in the HSE model of care for Eating Disorders. It is described as the most intensive level of care and treatment for someone experiencing an Eating Disorder.
Linn Dara Approved Centre has a broad range of evidence-based treatments and supports to affect deep and lasting change. This service provides an intensive feeding support service for those with high dependency needs ranging from food first to enteral feeding in conjunction with psychological and therapeutic treatments that allow for recovery to happen. We provide varying levels of input depending on the needs of the child or young person depending on the severity and stage of recovery.
Our multi-disciplinary team specialise in caring for children and adolescents with complex and enduring eating disorders.
They provide:
- intensive psychiatric supports
- psychological supports
- nutritional rehabilitation from a multi-disciplinary team specialised in caring for children and adolescents with complex and/or enduring Eating Disorders.
Individualised treatment packages and care plans are available to treat a broad range of Eating Disorders including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder and Other Specified Feeding Eating Disorder depending on the needs of the child and young person.
Referrals are accepted through specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services through the national inpatient referral system.
