Early detection app
After cancer treatment, patients are at risk of developing lymphoedema. The app provides risk-reduction advice, such as activity and exercise recommendations, as well as nutrition, and skin care tips. The app also includes a symptom tracker to help patients determine whether they should contact their clinician. It is interactive, prompting patients to perform exercises and track their progress while also providing videos and tips to help them stick to their program. The app provides links to HSE health and wellness programs that promote a healthy lifestyle. Patients who are concerned about developing lymphoedema can request a consultation with their clinician.

Under graduate and post graduate lymphoedema education
The National Lymphoedema/lipoedema Education Group has developed an education toolkit for standardising education for the awareness of lymphoedema for all healthcare professionals. This toolkit was developed in conjunction with the National Lymphoedema Framework Ireland.
The tool kit includes:
- PowerPoint presentation which is aimed at undergraduate and post graduate programmes and provides a foundation for teaching awareness of lymphoedema. The PowerPoint can be downloaded and adapted to add information but no slides should be removed
- Additional PowerPoints for education for oncology related lymphoedema and vascular lymphoedema
- Short 2 minute videos with patients talking about living with lymphoedema that can be used in conjunction with the PowerPoints
- MCQs examples
We would appreciate any feedback on the tool kit and plan to update regularly to ensure the content is current and relevant. Email Kay.Morris@hse.ie
