Services are provided for children and adults who need help in developing their speech or who have had difficulty in this area.
The Community Speech and Language Therapy Service North Dublin currently provides a service to children and adolescents 0-17 years 11 months and encompasses the assessment, diagnosis, management and prevention of disorders of communication within the community. In addition to the direct role with clients, the therapist involves significant others from the client's communicative environment in the process. This may include parents, families, carers, teachers, and other health professionals. The service also provides a specialist Speech and Language Service for children in receipt of special education provision in four special classes within local mainstream schools, during school terms.
The Speech and Language Therapy Service as part of a multidisciplinary team provides a service to adults with a physical or sensory disability in the age range 18 to 65 years.
Referral and access to these services is through open referral, Family, GPs, Public Health Nurses, Social Workers in Health Centres, Hospitals.
