Access to Mental Health Services

The GP is the first point of contact for accessing mental health services. Problems such as depression or anxiety may well be treated by their GP and may not need to be referred to the mental health team. In other cases, the GP may decide to refer a person to the mental health team for specialist care. In an emergency situation, when a GP is not available, access to the Mental Health Services is provided through the Accident & Emergency Department at your local hospital.
