Homeless

Housing plays a critical role in overall health. People without stable housing often face complex and long-term health issues, including mental health challenges and addiction, and may struggle to access appropriate care.

The National Social Inclusion Office (NSIO) oversees and manages a range of services and supports to address homelessness, focusing on improving the health and wellbeing of those affected. Our work aligns with the goals of the HSE National Strategic Plan to Improve the Health of People Experiencing Homelessness in Ireland (2024–2027) and Housing for All: A New Housing Plan for Ireland.

These services are delivered through in-reach and outreach programs. Many are provided by voluntary organisations working on behalf of the HSE to support people from diverse backgrounds.

The HSE works closely with local authorities to deliver person-centered homeless services. These include health and social supports to help individuals maintain their housing and improve their physical and mental well-being.
