Undertaking continuing professional development
Continuing professional development (CPD) is the means by which health and social care professionals maintain and improve their knowledge, skills and performance, and develop the professional qualities required throughout their professional life. CPD is an integral component in the continuing provision of safe and effective services for the benefit of service users.
Engaging in research
The HSCP Research Group has hosted a number of research conferences and develops resources, initiatives and events to promote and share research conducted by HSCP in clinical and academic settings, e.g. HSCP Research Speed Networking Events, Research Handbook.
Working with students – Practice Education
Student placements are a core part of most professional training programmes to enter the Health and Social Care Professions. Practice Educationis essential in ensuring future workforce supply that is fit for purpose, through collaboration between HSCP in practice and Higher Education Institutes (HEIs). Work based placements for HSCP are predominantly provided by the HSE and HSE funded bodies in line with the requisite HEI education Programme curricula, regulatory requirements and/or where applicable, professional body accreditation criteria. This section includes practice education resources, i.e. documents, reports, and access to the on line practice educator course etc.
