Vaccination Programme News and Updates
As per the NIAC recommendations, at all times of the year, both during and outside of the seasonal COVID-19 vaccination programmes:
COVID-19 booster vaccines continue to be recommended in pregnancy.
COVID-19 booster vaccines should be offered to anyone commencing planned immunosuppressant therapy who has not had a booster vaccine in the previous 6 months.
COVID-19 vaccines will also continue to be available for primary vaccination courses for those in recommended groups, regardless of the time of the year.
The NIAC spring programme recommendations for COVID-19 vaccination are available at
National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC)
The spring booster vaccination programme planning is underway and it will commence on 3rd April.
The seasonal influenza vaccine campaign will continue until the end of April 2025.
While the LAIV Programme concluded on 24th February 2025, any children in risk groups requesting an influenza vaccine after this time may be given an injectable vaccine.
Vaccine Recording
As there are many providers of COVID and flu vaccinations, it is essential that all vaccines given are recorded promptly, so that clinical records are kept up to date and two doses are not administered in error. Please ensure timely recording of vaccine administration on your IT System and maintain complete and contemporaneous record keeping of vaccinations.
