The HSE-Medicines Management Programme (MMP) identified preferred blood glucose test strips with associated meters for adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus in February 2021. This review was updated in December 2021 and February 2023.

The MMP are now planning to undertake a review of the preferred blood glucose test strips initiative. This includes a consultation period for relevant stakeholders including the suppliers of these products.

The review will be carried out in accordance with the process outlined in the MMP roadmap for the identification of preferred blood glucose test strips with associated blood glucose meter(s) for adult patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Submissions of new blood glucose test strips and/or associated blood glucose meters should include a cover page.

The closing date for submissions is 1pm on 19 September 2024.
