Saving Energy at Work

We should try to save energy wherever possible. No matter how small an action may seem, it all adds up in an organisation as big as the HSE.

Estates Energy Officers

HSE Capital and Estates Energy Officers work with Large Health Care Sites to promote energy efficiency.

Energy Supply Contacts

HBS Procurement and the Office of Government Procurement have completed a number of competitions for the supply of energy to the HSE and funded organisations.

Each energy type (natural gas, electricity, oil and liquid petroleum gas (LPG)) is provided by a single supplier. This allows us to better monitor and report on our energy use nationally. To improve our monitoring of energy use it is important that healthcare facilities sign up to these national contracts.

The frameworks are available to:

  • all properties of the HSE
  • HSE agencies
  • voluntary hospitals
  • Section 38 and 39 agencies whose budget receives more than 50% of its funding from the HSE
