The Coronary Heart Attack Ireland Register (CHAIR)
The Coronary Heart Attack Ireland Register (CHAIR) is a health register which collects information on patients admitted to hospitals with suspected or confirmed acute coronary syndromes.
The purpose of the Coronary Heart Attack Ireland Register (CHAIR) is to improve the delivery of healthcare to patients with acute coronary syndromes and to improve patient outcomes.
The Coronary Heart Attack Ireland Register (CHAIR) is run by the HSE. The following hospitals participate:
- Bantry General Hospital
- Cork University Hospital
- Bon Secours Hospital Tralee
- Mallow General Hospital
- Mercy University Hospital
- University Hospital Kerry
- Tipperary University Hospital
The specific objectives of CHAIR are to:
- Record, describe and analyse registered patient demographics, diagnostic and treatment details and patient outcomes.
- Facilitate the development of strategies to improve the quality of acute coronary syndromes patient care.
- Contribute towards the development of a national plan for the inpatient and community management of patients with acute coronary syndromes.
- Provide data to support the National Office of Clinical Audit (NOCA) Irish Heart Attack Audit (IHAA).
