To ask the Minister for Health his views on a matter (
I would be very grateful if you could investigate a loophole in the booster vaccine for those over 70 years old. Dear Brendan, I hope you are well. I want to point out a loophole in the booster (or third vaccine) rollout for those over 70 years of age. I quote from the HSE site: How you will get a booster You do not need to register for a booster dose. You will get your appointment at least 5 months after your second vaccine dose. If you are aged 70 or over, you'll be invited for your vaccine by your GP. Some GPs will refer patients to a vaccination centre. You will need an appointment for your booster dose. You cannot get a booster dose at a walk-in vaccination clinic. If you are aged 60 to 69, you will get a text message from the HSE with a vaccination centre appointment. As the site says, those over 70 will be invited by their GP to a vaccine appointment. It seems those over 70s who do not have a GP will not be offered a vaccine. This is a major oversight. Many over 70s do not have a GP. You may respond that all they have to do is register. However many practises are not enrolling new patients. For instance, An Neidín Family Practice in Kenmare will not accept new patients. Their site reads: New patients. Our list is currently closed to new patients. This issue needs to be solved. I suggest the HSE site be adjusted to arrange appointments for over 70s who do not have a GP.) regarding a loophole in relation to the administration of the booster vaccine for persons over 70 years of age.
