To ask the Minister for Health if he will advise on a matter raised in correspondence (I have however applied for a vaccinator role with the HSE, where physiotherapists could also apply. This campaign is run by an Agency called CPL, on behalf of the HSE. I have applied successfully, and I am now required to do the training before I could start; all logical enough. The training involves online training on HSELanD, and face-to-face training, which will be on various locations throughout the country. The face-to-face training is organised by Hibernian and the closest location to do training for this is in Galway. Whilst I am prepared enough to do training, I find it very poor practice that I have no commitment from the HSE to offer me a job. It might be that once I have completed the training, there is no job available in my location. In the application process I was asked if I would be prepared to travel to other locations. Due to the fact, that I have a young family, I am not able to travel away, further from home and I can only work part-time as well. Childminders are very hard to come by in my area (Bofeenaun) and even more so in the times that are in it. I have addressed the lack of a solid job offer with CPL and they responded that people will be offered a contract by the HSE once they have their training finished, should a job be available. Who-ever completes their training first, will be first in line to receive a job offer. They couldn’t tell me either that a job is guaranteed. Since I have started the online training, I have received several emails already, to instruct me that a module needs to be re-done, as the information has been updated. I find this quite a demand to be put on a person, who does not even have a job-offer and it seriously affects my motivation to carry on with this.); if this practice of requiring training in the absence of a job offer is in line with the policy of his Department and the HSE; the reason agencies hiring on behalf of the HSE for vaccinator roles are requiring vaccinator training of candidates who have been successful in their application but without offering them a job or renumeration for this training; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
