National Staff Nurse/Midwife Competition

The ONMSD has been working closely with the National Recruitment Service (NRS) on their national HR initiative for the development of a "single talent" pool for all Staff Nurses and Midwives. This initiative aims to fundamentally change how recruitment services are delivered but more importantly will provide Directors of Nursing/Midwifery with a much more efficient recruitment service for filling staff nurse /midwife vacancies.

This initiative includes an online application, an online assessment together with automated online interviews for the top ranking candidates.
Top ranking candidates will also attend robust "face to face" interviews with Nurse and Midwife Managers. This initiative was launched in April
2011 on www.publicjobs.ie. It includes the standard HSE internal communication pathways but is also be supported by social networking media e.g. Facebook. It is expected that the number of candidates interested in entering this talent pool will be approximately 10,000 and will include current temporary employees, agency workers, new graduates and nurses currently working in the private sector.
