Supports

Patient Advocacy Liaison Service (PALS)

We provide a personal and confidential service to patients, family members and visitors.

PALS can:

  • help resolve problems with hospital services or care
  • provide information about hospital services
  • listen to your comments about hospital services
  • coordinate and manage the investigation into your complaints

If you have any concerns about your care, speak to the person in charge of the area. They will address your concerns as quickly as possible.

The PALS office is beside the patient information desk on the main corridor. It is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm.

If you are making a complaint for someone else, we will need their consent before we can share any confidential information with you.

Information about a complaint is never kept in a patient’s medical chart. The information we collect from you is recorded and stored on the National Information Management System (NIMS).

Pastoral care

The Chaplaincy Department provides a multi-denominational service. It is on the ground floor, across from the staff lifts.

The hospital chapel is on the ground floor, near the staff canteen.

Roman Catholic mass or service is:

  • Monday to Friday, 1pm
  • Saturday, 7.30pm
  • Sunday, 1pm

You can ask for:

  • Holy Communion
  • The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick

Eucharistic Adoration is in the hospital chapel. It is Monday to Sunday, 7am to 8am and 7pm to 8pm, except Saturday evenings.

Church of Ireland patients can ask for Holy Communion.

Chaplains of other faiths visit the hospital. They can be contacted through the chaplain on duty.
