Traveller Health Service
The Traveller Health Unit works in partnership with Travellers to provide culturally appropriate healthcare for Travellers. Since 1999, many Traveller health initiatives, including peer led approaches, have been rolled out in the midlands. The Primary Healthcare for Traveller projects see Travellers themselves qualified as Community Health Workers working to improve Travellers uptake of health
services. The Traveller Health Strategy continues to direct the work of the designated HSE staff who work in Traveller Health.
